WWII Victory Gardens

The San Ramon Valley has a rich agricultural history. In addition to growing hays, grains, fruits, and nuts, ranchers and farmers had family gardens. During WWII, they were called Victory Gardens. Hear from a history gardening specialist about Victory Gardens and from a master gardener about how to create and grow a kitchen garden. They will demonstrate "canning, then and now" and share historic recipes. Join us for this fascinating presentation and preview the Museum's Victory Garden exhibit to be held July 23–September 18, 2010.
