Community Corner

Danville's National Night Out

Please join the "27th Annual National Night Out,"  aunique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

Over the summer, neighborhood groups have met and organized block parties and other events for the National Night Out, with the idea that they would all get together as a neighborhood, meet one another and meet members of the law enforcement community who will be out and about on Aug. 3.

Danville Police Officers, Community Services Officers, Police Volunteers and others will visit the block parties. They will have information material, identification kits and goodie bags. They'll also be available to answer questions and begin dialogues aimed at helping residents get to know how to make their neighborhoods as safe as possible.

There is still plenty of time to be a part of National Night Out 2010.  Those wishing to register block parties can do so by filling out a form on the Town's website www.danville.ca.gov or by contacting Community Services Officer Ashley Nichelman at 314-3707 or by e-mail at anichelman@danville.ca.gov.

Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 36 million people participated in National Night Out 2009. Goals include:
