Role Players Ensemble is hosting a visit from professional matchmaker Anni Powers of San Francisco during their 8 pm performance of Wilder's The Matchmaker. The play, which inspired the film Hello Dolly!, is a farce replete with mistaken identities and ridiculous disguises. On this special evening, Ms. Powers will be matching members of the audience.
For theaetergoers wanting Matches, surveys will be filled out upon arrival and Matches will be made during intermission. A reception follows at Faz Restaurant where members of the cast will join those interested in continuing the evening. Enjoy live music from local duo Wind 'n Keys (Jeanie Locklear and Cathy Murphy), specialty cocktails and complimentary appetizers along with live matchmaking and dating advice from Ms. Powers till 11:30 pm. Thornton Wilder, who's play celebrates his belief in shaking things up, taking chances, and living, would approve!
Tickets can be purchased at the theater, online at http://roleplayersensemble.com/ or at the Danville Community Center, 420 Front Street, Danville, 925-314-3400 ext. 4 ~ $20 student, $25 senior, $28 adult.
