First Friday Films: The Cunning Little Vixen, 2003

The Cunning Little Vixen is a lavish animation of Janacek's famous Czech opera featuring the lovable flirtatious fox, Sharpears. It's a tale of the creatures in the forest, those who hunt them and ultimately gratitude for nature's cycles of death/rebirth. Renowned conductor Kent Nagano, who hails from Berkeley, adapted the music and Geoff Dunbar (winner of the Palm d'Or at Cannes for Lautrec) created the spellbinding animation.

Christine Buffle is spot on the youthful soprano (Sharpears) while Grant Doyle seems born to sing the role of the Forester. Unrated, suggested age 10 up; run time 75 minutes. Join us for popcorn during and discussion after.
