Pete Zucker from Danville, CA – husband, father, former triathlete and competitive cyclist – had been used to physical challenges, until he was diagnosed in April 2010 with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that leads to paralysis, and eventually death. There is no known cure for the disease, and with no effective treatment, the average patient survives only 2-5 years following their diagnosis.
Today, Pete and his family and friends do all they can to fight back. On Saturday, February 9, 2013, Pete, with the help of the Forward Motion Race Club, will host a 16.5 hour Spin-A-Thon at ClubSport in San Ramon to raise money to fight ALS. Proceeds that go toward the Pete Zucker Foundation will go to support the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), a Cambridge, MA-based nonprofit dedicated to developing treatments and a cure for ALS.
All are welcome to join Pete fight against ALS. To register for the Spin-A-Thon or receive more information, please visit http://www.forwardmotionraceclub.com/Latest-News/cycle-for-als.html. To learn more about Pete Zucker, go to http://www.petezuckerfoundation.org/.
