1. Monte Vista Football Honoring CHP Officer Kenyon Youngstrom
The Monte Vista High football community rallied together to organize a fundraiser for Officer Kenyon Youngstrom at Friday's football game.
Wristbands were sold for $5 with all the money going to an account for the Youngstrom family.
"I felt compelled to do something," said Katherine Thomas, whose son is on the football team and organized the fundraiser. "It happened almost literally on our doorstep and, like him, I also have four kids and family members that are officers."
2. Little Alamo Shelling Out Big Bucks in Presidential Campaign
An interactive database created by Patch from the Federal Elections Commission's website shows more than 400 individuals from Alamo (population 14,570) have donated to either President Obama or Republican nominee Mitt Romney as of the end of August.
The database shows six Alamo individuals have given at least $2,500 to the Obama campaign while 19 have donated at least that amount to the Romney campaign.
3. Danville's Kyle Weiss Receives 'Nobel Prize for Child Advocates' Award
He was given the award at the World of Children Award Gala in New York City on Thursday night where more than 400 guests turned out to honor him and his fellow honorees.
The award was given to Weiss for his work abroad, helping developing countries bring soccer equipment and field to the area.
