UPDATE: All I-680 Lanes Open, No Traffic

Traffic around the area of the officer-involved shooting continues to be slow, with traffic backing up heavily on eastbound Highway 24. All southbound I-680 lanes are expected to open by 7 p.m., according to CHP.

Update: 9:00 p.m.

All lanes have reopened and there is no traffic in either direction on Interstate 680.

Update 5:30 p.m.

The shooting of a CHP officer that closed Interstate 680 in both directions for hours on Tuesday is expected to impact evening traffic, especially for those going east on Highway 24.

Northbound traffic is now open, with traffic moving smoothly at 4:15 p.m. except around the area of the Livorna Road in Alamo, according to Patch's commute page.

The larger problem is southbound I-680. Four lanes in the southbound direction have opened and one lane is closed from South Main Street to Rudgear Road, according to KTVU.

Those lanes are expected to reopen by 7 p.m., according to the CHP.

Because of the road closure, traffic eastbound has backed up on Highway 24 through Lafayette. Side streets off Highway 24 are also showing congestion.

Southbound traffic on I-680 is still being diverted off the freeway, which is congesting the streets in Downtown Walnut Creek.

Danville Boulevard is slow, but traffic eases up the closer you get to Alamo.
