Putting Your Junk on the Curb Could Help Others

Put it to the curb and it could go to charity.

Need to get rid of some junk but want to keep it out of the landfill?

Well, two times a year, it's as easy as taking it out to your curb.

The Contra Costa Times recently did a write up on a Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority program called Reuse and Cleanup Days.

Contra Costa Times, April 16:

"Twice a year, on a scheduled day, people in our service area put their junk on the curb," said Paul Morsen, the authority's executive director. "Pacific Rim Recycling picks up what can be reused and takes it to a warehouse. Then the charities, East Bay Depot and St. Vincent de Paul, sort out what can be used or refurbished."

What's left is then picked up by Allied Waste Services.

Danville Patch called the Waste Authority and Allied Waste Services for the dates of the pick up. They told us schedules are mailed about but dates vary depending on the street.

So, to find out when the next scheduled pick up date for the Reuse and Cleanup Days in your neighborhoood, call Allied Waste Services at 925-604-1144 ex. 4.

David et al: Here's what the FAA said: "Radar replays show an F18 flew right over DanvilleRead More northeast-bound at 3,500 feet at exactly 10:45, and then started to climb, which would create more noise as the pilot applied more engine power."
