The meteor shower was visible tonight in the skies of the Bay Area

People who saw it said it was beautiful.

People who heard it said it was loud.

All over Twitter and Facebook, residents of the Bay Area are saying they saw meteors falling to Earth on Wednesday evening.

They described the meteors as blue, red and/or green with fiery tails.

Others said they heard a loud "Boom!" along with the colorful visions.

If you have a photo, please upload it to this shower. If you saw it, describe what you saw in our comments.

The National Weather Service said the meteors are part of the Orionids shower.

The Orionids meteor shower is visible all this week in our skies with the peak time  expected to be Saturday evening.

My family was eating dinner at Round Table in San Lorenzo and my daughter seen one out the window and no one believed her! She said it was multiple colors, mostly yellow similar to a firework but the tail end had sparkles around it, she was adamant! I'm glad this article confirmed it!

We were out stargazing at Lake Del Valle when it flew over. It was a fireball for sure, no little falling star like we are used to. Didn't get a picture, we were just so stunned to be seeing it. It was amazing.

I was outside with my friend and we were looking at the ground, and my whole front yard lit up. At first I thought it was a car coming over the hills, and we were speechless when we turned around. Not only was it huge, it was so bright! It streaked across the sky for about 3 seconds. It broke up into 3 pieces and faded behind the hill. Such an amazing thing to witness.

I was washing dishes looking out our kitchen window (San Ramon). It was so bright and was going so strong that at first I thought it was almost a firework or mistle. It was blue with green in the front and bright yellow near the tail with yellow-white sparkles flying off the tail. It was so big and bright that I thought it was over our neighbors house, but now I've seen the comments from San Lorenzo and Castro Valley! Too cool! :)

I was in front yard talking on the phone. I seen the sky become a bright blue light as if somebody was welding. I heard no sound but I know now "they are here"!! Think I just saw a little green man run across my lawn!

I was in my backyard in Livermore when I saw a yellow fireball with a large tail go across the sky. It was low in the sky, and moving from south to north, It was so large, I thought it was a firework or flare. I glad to see on the internet that it was a meteor.

During the half time of the Canyon Middle School football game the meteorite enter into the atmosphere and there it was a huge ball surrounded by fire and what it look like charcoal lights of fire following behind it, it just went and disintegrate in front of all the people that were watching the game, it was the biggest comet followed by a huge tail of fire like a comet tail, it was awesome.

We were at the Canyon vs Creekside football game. I was looking at the beautiful slivered moon that was slowly setting when the meteorite entered in. It was so low, streaking left to right. I pointed and shouted "look up, look up", which was followed by the collective "Ooooo......." by the crowd located on the Canyon fan side, since we had a perfect view of it.

David et al: Here's what the FAA said: "Radar replays show an F18 flew right over DanvilleRead More northeast-bound at 3,500 feet at exactly 10:45, and then started to climb, which would create more noise as the pilot applied more engine power."
