Lighting of the Oak Tree Friday Night

The Oak Tree is expected to be lit at 6:15 p.m. The ceremony is from 5:15-8:30 p.m.

The 36th annual Lighting of the Oak Tree is Friday night, with the festivites starting at 5:15 p.m. and ending around 8:30 p.m.

The downtown Danville event will feature the San Ramon Valley High School chorus and the Danville girls chorus under the direction of Ken Abrams.

The Oak Tree lighting is at about 6:15 p.m. There will be also be performances from local entertainers, including Rundown Radio, the Monte Vista Beauty Shop Quartet, California Spirit Elite and Studio 8 Dance & Performing Arts Center. Danville merchants will also be on hand, and there will be plenty of hot cocoa, cider and tea.

"This event is such a great Danville tradition," said Shelby McNamara, president and CEO of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce. "We see new generations of families here every year enjoying our town and visiting our merchants and restaurants, who stay up open late and really go all out and put on their very best."
