Lawsuit Dismissed Against Fire District Board Member

A Los Angeles judge granted a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a former employee of a firm co-owned by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District board member Glenn Umont.

A Los Angeles County judge has dismissed a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against a San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District board member and others involved in a company he co-owned in Southern California.

Attorneys for Glenn Umont, Joe Gaglione and PS Environmental Services Inc. had asked the judge for a "nonsuit" ruling in the case.

At a court hearing in late September, attorneys for the defendants were in attendance, but neither plaintiff Deborah Aitken nor her attorneys showed up.

The judge subsequently granted the defendants' request to dismiss the lawsuit.

Aitken had filed the lawsuit in October 2010, saying she was sexually harassed while she worked at PS Environmental Services.

Umont told Patch at the time that the suit was a "red herring" to get him to drop his demands that Aitken repay him money that he loaned her.

Umont was elected to the fire district board a few weeks after the suit was filed.

Neither Umont or his attorneys could be reached for comment on the suit's dismissal.
