Last Week in Danville and Alamo: Remembering Alliy Bayliss

A look back at stories from May 22 to 28.

The Danville community was saddened by the search for and loss of 15-year-old Alliy Bayliss last week:

On Monday night, Danville Police announced Alliy, a sophomore at San Ramon Valley High was seen at school Monday morning but never returned home. A search team from many Bay Area agencies as well as hundreds of volunteers searched for Alliy on Tuesday.

As the search went on Tuesday for Alliy in San Francisco, hundreds of students at San Ramon Valley High wore blue, Alliy's favorite color, to show their support for her. Read more about how students and the community showed their support for Alliy in Danville.

Even as the search team said no more volunteers were needed, the community still wanted to help in the search. Read more about the community's efforts to help find Alliy.

In a press conference Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol announced that the search for Alliy ended, switching to a water recovery operation. During the press conference, a California Highway Patrol Official said "unfortunately, sometimes there is no recovery in these types of situations." Read the full announcement.

San Ramon Valley High principal, Joseph Ianora, wrote a letter to the school community Wednesday. He said, "I am deeply saddened to inform you that the police have called off the search for Allison Bayliss, and that they believe that she took her own life." Read his letter.
