A rescue dog featured in a book by an Alamo author and students went to Japan to help in the search effort, after the recent earthquake and tsunami. Pearl, a search-and-rescue dog from Los Angeles, is the star of a book by local author Allyn Lee. .

We told you about Indesign Interior Design studio, closing after 31 years in Danville. Arlene Russ, owner of the studio on West Linda Mesa Avenue, reflects on her journey from Navy wife to designer, and the changes in Danville since her business opened. Read Russ' story.

Danville resident and Venture School student, Evan O'Dorney, 17, won $100,000 in an Intel-sponsored science competition. O'Dorney bested 40 finalists in the competition that drew 1,744 entries. His work compared two ways to estimate the square root of an integer. Read more about O'Dorney and his achievement.

The Alamo MAC gave their recommendation for a new fire station in Alamo. MAC members gave their approval for the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District's plans, despite mixed support from residents. Read more about the plans and residents' concerns.

  • We told you about Clayton and Concord men, arrested for DUI charges as part of a "Dirty DUI" operation in Danville. .
  • Danville Town Manager Joe Calabrigo wrote an open letter to residents about the scandal. Read the letter.
  • Contra Costa County Sheriff's Public Information Director Jimmy Lee confirmed Deputy Sheriff Tom Henderson has been reassigned out of Danville. Henderson was identified as being involved in a "Dirty DUI" arrest in Danville. Read this story.
  • Livermore resident and winemaker, Mitchell Katz, was identified as one of three DUI arrests being reviewed because of links to the "Dirty DUIs." Read more about the cases being reviewed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
  • Attorneys for two men investigated by Norman Wielsch, the former commander of the Central Contra Costa County Narcotic Enforcement Team, said the District Attorney's Office can't prosecute Wielsch and their clients at the same time.   • Wielsch and his alleged accomplice, Christopher Butler, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that they stole drugs from law enforcement evidence lockers and sold them on the streets. Wielsch and Butler were charged in February in a 28-count criminal complaint. Read the story.
