Update: Ice Cream Truck Accident on I-680 Slows Traffic, Lanes Now Open

All lanes have now reopened going northbound on I-680 near Rudgear Road.

Update 9:40 a.m.

A Sig-alert has been canceled this morning on northbound Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek after an ice cream truck overturned, leaving at least one person with minor injuries, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP closed three out of four lanes on northbound Highway 680 after the truck overturned just north of Rudgear Road around 7:15 a.m., CHP Officer James Evans said.

A red taxi was also involved in the crash.

The Sig-alert was canceled at 9:08 a.m.

7:50 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol has issued a Sig-alert this morning in Contra Costa County north of Alamo.

An ice cream truck is on its side and is blocking three lanes of northbound Interstate Highway 680, a CHP officer said.

The crash was reported just north of Rudgear Road at about 7:15 a.m., CHP Officer James Evans said.

The Sig-alert was issued just after 7:30 a.m. and was still blocking three lanes as of about 7:40 a.m.

Gasoline was reportedly leaking from the ice cream truck, he said. A red taxi also was involved in the crash.

No injures have been reported.

Adding to the traffic problems going northbound, an injury crash on northbound I-680 at Crow Canyon Road is blocking two lanes at 8:30 a.m., according to KCBS.
