Fundraiser for Local Coach Battling Cancer Raises $21,305

Todd French, a local lacrosse and football coach, was diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer about a year ago.

Two weeks ago we wrote about local youth lacrosse and football coach .

We did a piece about a fundraiser supporters were throwing for him in order to curb some of the medical costs of French's treatment. Mainly a $10,000 a month drug treatment he's taking.

Organizers of the event reported back to us that they were able to raise $21,305. After some expenses, the French family -- consisting of his wife and two boys -- will receive $17,000.

"The Todd French Fundraiser, on March 8 at Primo's, was a huge success," organizer Bill Blackburn wrote to us in an email. "Steve Haworth the auctioneer did a great job with the auction items.  The auction grossed about $21,305 and after some expenses the French family will receive about $17,000.00!  Not bad for a pizza parlor fundraiser!"
