Memorial Dedicated to 'Chachi' Headed for Downtown

San Ramon Valley High School grad Lance Cpl. Joshua "Chachi" Corral died in Afghanistan on Nov. 18 during combat operations. The community rallied around the young man and his family.

In honor of Chachi, the city will be erecting a memorial in front of the Veterans Memorial Building on Hartz Avenue, the Danville Express is reporting.

The memorial will include a battlefield cross, which is a pair of boots, a rifle, and a helmet. Additionally, there will be two plaques, one for Chachi and one explaining the battlefield cross.

"It's going to be a nice thing in Chachi's memory to make sure we take care of his Marines as he'd want us to do," said Len Hack, executive director of the Fallen Soldier Memorial and Semper Fi Foundation.
