Demolition of the Danville Hotel Territory is set for January 14, according to Nat Rojanasathira, Assistant to the Town Manager.

A demolition permit by Castle Companies is on file with the town.

Fencing was put up around the perimeter of the frontier-inspired block in December, which have dilapidated over the last few years.

Contractors were busy removing the asbestos from the property last month.

The project plans preserve and restore the Danville Hotel and McCauley House, while constructing and additional 34,585 square feet of residential, retail and restaurant space.

That's so sad!! That red and white Danville Hotel structure has been an iconic symbol of Danville for decades. It would have been so much better to have restored it rather than constructing a 3 story retail/residential building better suited for Walnut Creek. Where is all the parking planned?

Boo hoo! My store was in that development for 6 and a half years. They said I might get one year before demolition back in 2005. Then the recession hit. II will miss the quirky, charming, gingerbready stuff. At least the red hotel building on Hartz will remain, but they'll probably paint if beige! Susan from Polka Dot Attic
