Bites Nearby: Father Nature's Restaurant in Danville

A restaurant with a warm atmosphere and delicious entrees.

Anyone who is "in the know" in Danville can tell you about . It has been serving delicious breakfasts and lunches for 35 years in a quaint atmosphere with friendly servers who strive to make your experience more pleasurable.

Under new ownership since 2006, proprietor Tae Pak has kept things pretty much the same. After all, you never want to fix something that isn't broken.

On the breakfast end of things, Father Nature's is known for its wonderful eggs benedict, perfectly poached eggs smothered in a delicate yet flavorful sauce. Delicious! They also have a great selection of omelets. These are not silly five- or six-bite omelets, but the real deal — huge, fluffy and packed with your favorite fixings.

There is such a variety of lunch items it's hard not to find something you'll enjoy: pasta, hamburgers, pizza, more than 10 salads and sandwiches. The sandwich that people always rave about is the chicken salad. It is made with juicy apples and cashews, but the kicker is that it is sandwiched between two slices of dill bread made on the premises.

Father Nature's also has soups to go with its sandwiches. The sweet potato soup is rich and creamy perfection, but I am told the pumpkin soup, served only in the fall, is to die for.

Customers  must try the Danville spice tea. This blend is made in Seattle exclusively for the restaurant. You can drink it there, hot or iced, regular or de-caffeinated and the loose tea is available for purchase by the pound.

What is so special about the Danville spice tea?  First, its smell is simply divine —warmed cinnamon that wraps you in comfort on a cold winter morning. After your first sip, you'll be amazed how flavorful and delicious it is without even adding sugar or milk. Even if you've never been fond of tea, you may want to give this one a try. The restaurant also serve lattes and mochas along with the usual cup of joe. And there's beer and wine for the lunch crowd.

Father Nature's is reasonably priced with breakfast entrees, sandwiches and burgers for less than $10. Pasta dishes don't exceed $15 and there are kids' meals for $5.90.

Seating is available in the main dining building or outdoors in the cute patio area. Another building is frequently used for private parties, bridal and baby showers, and even the monthly Mayor's Morning gathering.

Pak revealed that Father Nature's may soon have wine tastings and serve dinner, so stay tuned.

Father Nature's Restaurant is at 172 E. Prospect Ave., Danville. 925-820-3160. Open daily from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
