With the weather so springish lately, we're already starting to crave summertime food like barbecued ribs.
In the second of a series of three posts highlighting restaurants along the I-680/24 area, we asked our local food friends to share a list of their favorite places for ribs. (Related story: Best Food and Wine Pairings for Valentine's Day.)

The Original Hick'ry Pit, Walnut Creek. Everyone loves the Hick'ry Pit. With its St. Louis cut ribs, it's an institution. Does anyone remember the pink pigs that were everywhere? And here's our trivia question: What was the name of the manager/hostess with the beehive hair who wore mountains of jewelry? Back Forty Texas Barbecue, Pleasant Hill. This restaurant has won multiple competitions from around the country and is known for its stellar catering service that brings yummy ribs and all the fixin's to your door.
McCoveys, Walnut Creek, has the closest thing out West to Houston-style ribs that fall off the bone, hickory smoked, original rub and topped with an amazing barbecue sauce.
Bo's BBQ, Lafayette. Bo and his wife give this place personality and have turned this restaurant into a landmark in Lafayette. With a lot of meat on the bone and a great beer selection, Bo's is a tasty East Bay option.
Martini Sky, Danville, is the newest place on the block and has received rave reviews for its Asian-style ribs with lemongrass sauce. The dish is the restaurant's No. 1 seller.
