'The Matchmaker' Opens at Village Theatre

The award-winning comedy served as the inspiration for the musical 'Hello Dolly!'

Role Players Ensemble opens Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker at the Village Theatre in Danville on Friday, Jan. 17.

The crafty scheming of Dolly Levi turns the world of Horace Vandergelder upside-down in this frantic farce. The production is directed by Eric Fraisher Hayes and features Melynda Kiring and John Blytt.

A spread of events also surround the event, including a movie screening of Hello Dolly! with a Barbra Streisand impersonator on Jan. 19, and a singles' evening with a real matchmaker on hand Jan. 25.
