Local Band Alma Desnuda Gets A Few Shoutouts

From Diablo Magazine to the John Lennon Bus to KFOG, local band Alma Desnuda is in the spotlight.

A few highlights from Danville's own Alma Desnuda (Spanish for naked souls):

Chris Bryden grew-up in Danville and attended and . He has lived all over the world and studied philosophy and psychology.

"The idea of naked soul is living your authentic self," said Bryden. "In our music, in our lives, in our everyday actions we try to live up to that ideal and the places where we fall short are the edges that we have that we need to grow."

Joe Glaser, a 1999 graduate of , met Bryden in 2002 and formed the band in 2008 with Bryden and their friend Paul Suhr.

"Throughout our childhood and as we grow into adults we learn how to adapt to society by wearing masks, being somebody that we're not," said Glaser. "Over time you may lose a sense of who you are really deeply. Alma Desnuda refers to who you are once you remove all the masks."

Thank you for this post. As a parent of two at SRVHS and one at Stone Valley Middle School thisRead More whole thing concerns me greatly. I just have not had the time to look into it. My Junior at SRVHS is in the guinea pig class for the new curriculum. The new curriculum started with AP Biology this year and it has been a disappointment. Parents, including myself, really need to educate ourselves on this. I thought this was a State program not a Fed program. Great...
