Looking for something fun and inexpensive to do with the kids this weekend? We're here to help with Patch's top five local picks in and near the Tri-Valley.

Start your weekend with "Groovy Judy" at a free concert in the park in Pleasanton, see model trains at a new exhibit in Danville, take the kids to the Chevron Family Theatre Festival in Walnut Creek, catch the final summer concert in San Ramon and enjoy free jazz in Livermore.

Why Go: Start your weekend off right with a free family-friendly concert in the park where the band Groovy Judy performs "flower power funk rock."

Where/When: Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the in Danville.
Why Go: Be one of the first to see this new exhibit about "Toonerville Trolley," the electric railway that ran from 1914-1924. Kids of all ages will also enjoy seeing S Scale model trains featured in the new exhibit.
Price: $5 family, $3 adults, $2 students with ID, $1 children

Where/When:  Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.at the in Walnut Creek
Why Go: This affordable festival features nationally renowned performers entertaining families all day in all three of the Center's theaters. Hear Fantasy Forum perform its hit The Crimson Pirate, watch Rude Dog Duo juggle and clown around and see "Wild Kingdom, featuring the co-host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Free entertainment includes Juice Box Heroes concert, taiko drummers, interactive dance party and more. View the full event schedule.

Where/When: Sunday at 2 p.m. at the in Livermore.
Why Go: The Oakland Jazz Choir tops off the Livermore Library's month-long series of free jazz events. The choir performs blues, gospel, Latin and Brazilian music.

Where/When: Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at in San Ramon
Why Go: Don't miss San Ramon's final concert of the summer. Bring your picnic dinners and blankets to Central Park to hear the local band Pride & Joy play timeless pop/soul music that gets everyone dancing.
