The Museum of the San Ramon Valley Presents Quirkology of Quilts: Warmth to Whimsy

August 25 through September 25 the Museum of the San Ramon Valley is showing some unique and fabulous quilts in their newest exhibit Quirkology of Quilts: Warmth to Whimsy.   It includes masterful works of art created by local quilters.   Although there are traditional quilts on display, many use new and creative techniques which capture one's attention with their artistic flare and diversity.

Each Saturday there will be demonstrations or presentations.  On Saturdays August 27, September 3, and September 17 volunteers from the Diablo Valley Quilters' Guild will be on hand to demonstrate a variety of skills.   On September 10 Althea Ballard will present her perspective of Whimsical Quilts from 10:30 -11:30 am.   On September 24 Margaret Linderman will talk about Wearable Art from 10:30-11:30 am.

Museum visitors are also invited to join a Quilt Treasure Hunt where they are given the opportunity to identify the locations of a variety of quilts which have been placed in businesses around town.   Those who successfully complete the hunt will be placed in a drawing to win a unique quilt.  A special thanks to Discover Danville, Wooden Gate Quilts, Cottage Jewel, and other Danville shops for organizing this fun treasure hunt.    The exhibit is made possible through grants from the Town of Danville and Chevron.
