Strawberry Party at the Museum Highlights the life of Mary Todd Lincoln

This Sunday, May 16, at 2 pm, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley will be hosting a Strawberry Party honoring Mary Todd Lincoln who frequently assisted her husband's political campaigns by hosting social events at their home.

A program will feature Jean Blaser presenting Mary Todd Lincoln: First Lady of Controversy.  Questions continue to swirl around the First Lady with accusations of reckless spending, questionable Union loyalties, a tiring nag, and perhaps even of insanity.  Or, was she simply the activist President's wife at a time when women were to remain demure, quiet and behind the scenes?

Strawberries, chocolates, cookies, and drinks will be served.  The cost is $5 and guests may register on line at www.museumsrv.org or call the Museum at 925.837.3750.

This event is one of many at the Museum highlighting Lincoln's life and this fascinating era.  The Museum's current exhibit, The San Ramon Valley During the Civil War is on display through May 29.

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley (in the original Danville Train Depot) is located at 205 Railroad Avenue, Danville.  Regular Museum Hours are Tuesday-Friday 1 pm-4 pm and Saturday 10 am-1 pm.  There is a $3 charge for admission and a museum store offers unique gifts.
