The event is for women of all shapes, color and backgrounds. It's geared specifically towards women, Hewitt said, because women make most of the family's health care decisions.

Hewitt has been a chiropractor in Danville for 18 years. She said that her patients used to come in with neck and back pains, but now they come to her office with painful side-effects caused by the medication they take.

"People think the drug cartel is down in Mexico--well, it's here," Hewitt said, referring to the the over-medication of patients in the U.S.

Women of Wellness (WOW) aims to give women in the audience the tools to make informed choices. The conference theme revolves around the paradigm shift women find themselves in after achieving education and money, left to wonder what's next. The event coordinators want to delve into this issue and offer women the ability to recognize the great awakening that's taking place.

Naomi Tickle, author of the book, "You Can Read a Face like a Book," will be speaking and offering face-readings. The event features a well-rounded line of speakers discussing topics from Tai Chi to becoming politically active.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Tickets are on sale now, ranging from $10 to attend the expo or $65 for two ladies admission. Tickets are $99 day of the event.
