Demolition Plans Move Along for Danville Hotel Project

While the Danville Hotel Territory's dilapidation has been unconcealed for the last few years, a fence has been installed around the perimeter of the downtown block.

Demolition to make way for the Danville Hotel Project is set for January, according to the town's website.

No exact date has been set for demolition for 14,000 square feet of the existing frontier-inspired structures, but a green fence around the block seems more promising than ever for the project that has been in the works since 2005.

The project plans preserve and restore the Danville Hotel and McCauley House.

An additional 34,585 square feet of residential, retail and restaurant space will be added.

The fencing was put up for contractors to rid the buildings of asbestos before next month's demolition, the town stated.

One of the town's most treasured downtown spots, Sideboard, announced their closing earlier this month for Jan. 8. 2014.

The Danville coffee shop and food place be permanently moving a few blocks away at 90 Railroad Ave., with plans to open in March 2014.

There's no update as to what will occupy the space after the Hotel Development Project is complete.
