Hike For The Homeless: Hundreds Turn Out For Fundraising Mount Diablo Trek

A photo gallery from Sunday's fundraising hike for Shelter Inc.

Several hundred hikers hit the slopes of Mount Diablo on Sunday to raise money to help the homeless in Contra Costa County.

The 2012 Hike for Shelter raised more than $50,000 for Shelter Inc.

Hikers collected donations before Sunday morning's trek and then set out at various times from Macedo Ranch in Danville.

The walkers chose from four different courses ranging from the 2.4 mile journey in the China Wall area to the challenging 6.7 miles summit hike to the top of the mountain.

Patch editor David Mills went on the more moderate 5.2 mile hike in and around the Castle Rock area. He put together this photo gallery of what he saw.
