Cheer and Dance Teams from Danville Win National Titles

SPIRIT FORCE, a Danville cheer and dance group, received top national titles at the Christian Cheerleaders of America (CCA) Cheer Nationals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Saturday, March 4.

Three teams, parents, grandparents and coaches traveled across the country for the three-day competition. The teams competed in 19 separate events (team routines, duos and solos), and took national champion titles in 8 of them, as well as higher level overall high score awards.

The SPIRIT FORCE top team, Storm, was also declared best choreography in the competition by Inside Cheerleading Magazine, a national publication.

“I am so proud of each and every one of the girls for their accomplishments, and the teamwork they displayed,” said parent Jennifer Vasquez. “It was wonderful getting to know everyone and the love and support that the girls, parents, grandparents, and coaches had for each other was truly amazing.”

However, perhaps even more stressful than the national competition was getting 46 people, their luggage and many large trophies on a plane back to California. When the group finally made it home, the coaches expressed that they couldn’t be happier for the kids.

“I am thrilled with the teams’ performances,” said Melanie Randolph, head coach and director of SPIRIT FORCE. “Not only did they perform well, but their camaraderie, team spirit and encouragement toward each other and the other teams made this trip the best we’ve ever had. These memories will last a lifetime for these girls.”
