Volunteers are needed to participate in a mass care and shelter drill on April 26 at St. Joan of Arc in San Ramon.
The goal of the drill is to preparer the San Ramon Valley Community to open, operate, and manage a shelter for people and pets in the event of an emergency.
Volunteers are needed to play the roles of displace evacuees and to participate in other capacities.
The drill is in conjunction with the Town of Danville, the City of San Ramon, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, the American Red Cross, Contra Costa County Animal Services and St. Joan of Arc.
St. Joan of Arc Parrish located at 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon. The drill begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and to bring family and friends. Lunch will be provided.
Want to get more involved? Train to be a Shelter Service Worker. In preparation for the drill Shelter Management the American Red Cross will provide training for community members that are interested in learning about shelter operations. The Red Cross Shelter training is an 8-hour course designed to provide participants with the necessary skills needed to successfully support shelter operations during an emergency. The Training will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Parish.
