Danville Mayor Candace Andersen Receives Endorsement of County Law Enforcement in her Bid for County Supervisor
(Martinez, CA) – Yesterday a coalition of Contra Costa County law enforcement leaders met at the County Elections Office to announce their endorsement of Danville Mayor Candace Andersen in her bid for County Supervisor District 2. Outgoing Supervisor Gayle Uilkema is retiring at the end of her term in January, 2013.
Contra Costa County District Attorney Mark Peterson; Sheriff David Livingston; President of the Deputy District Attorney Association Barry Grove; and President of the Deputy Sheriff Association Ken Westerman issued a joint statement of support. Noting that Andersen began her legal career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Honolulu, they stated, "We believe Mayor Andersen will provide the leadership needed to make public safety a priority in the county. Her service as a criminal prosecutor will be extremely helpful as she works with us to make our communities safe for our families."
The Public Safety leaders also emphasized their confidence that Mayor Andersen brings fiscal responsibility to the County. "Her experience as a city Mayor also uniquely qualifies her to provide leadership at the county level. She knows how to make the tough decisions, including decisions about how to spend limited county funds. Candace Andersen has the experience and leadership the citizens of Contra Costa County need."
