Park Police Statement on Sexual Assault

There was a sexual assault reported to the EBRPD Police
Department on December 12, 2012.  This case is being actively investigated by the department. Based upon information developed in the investigation, the department does not believe there is any extraordinary risk or danger to anyone using Las Trampas Regional Park or living nearby.  The police department is continuing extra patrols of the area.

Due to the confidential nature of this type of investigation, the EBRPD police department is not able to share any of the information that has been developed.

There is no history of any similar incidents being reported at Las Trampas for at least the past five years.  Any inquiries can be directed to EBRPD Police Lieutenant Jon King at 510-690-6552.

People should always practice safety while using the regional parks.  It is always best to hike with a friend or with your dog, carry your cell phone with you, be aware of your surroundings and insure that someone knows where you are hiking so that we know where to look if you become overdue for any reason.
