Miller Will Communicate to Voters Van de Brooke is the Right Choice for County Supervisor
Congressman George Miller will walk precincts in Contra Costa County along side Tomi Van de Brooke and volunteers on May 12. Tomi Van de Brooke’s has received the significant endorsement of Congressman George Miller in her bid to be the next Contra Costa County Supervisor in District 2. Congressman Miller represents the 7th Congressional District, which includes much of Contra Costa County. He is also running for office in the new 11th Congressional District.
“Tomi is exactly the kind of leader that Contra Costa County needs,” said Congressman George Miller. “In her role as president of the Contra Costa Community College Governing Board, she has worked hard to institute fiscal accountability, increase access to public education, and expand job training programs that county residents need. We need experienced leadership at every level of government to help create jobs and protect our environment. I’m proud to support Tomi for County Supervisor and look forward to working with her when she is elected.”
Congressman Miller is the Senior Democrat and former chair of the House Education and Workforce Committee. He is a leading advocate in Congress on education, labor, the economy, and the environment.
Earlier this month, Van de Brooke received the endorsement of Superintendent of Public Instruction and long-time Contra Costa County leader Tom Torlakson. These key endorsements continue to add to the growing momentum of Van de Brooke’s campaign. She has already received key endorsements from State Senator Mark DeSaulnier, State Assembly Members Susan Bonilla and Joan Buchanan, Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Joseph Ovick, and many current and former leaders from Alamo, Danville, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, San Ramon, Walnut Creek and other areas. Van de Brooke currently serves as the President and Ward II Trustee on the Contra Costa Community College District Governing Board. Her diverse experience – working for both large and small businesses and non-profits – makes her uniquely qualified to ensure the county government is serving the needs of our community. As Supervisor, Van de Brooke will ensure fiscal accountability and push a performance-based approach to county operations. She believes that our county government must make public safety and investment in infrastructure funding priorities and further broaden the County’s jobs base.
