Museum of The San Ramon Valley

205 Railroad Ave, Danville, CA

This tiny jewel of the San Ramon Valley is a delightful and time-consuming destination. Housed in the historic and beautifully restored Southern Pacific train depot and staffed by knowledgeable Danville residents who are eager to share the town's history, the museum is filled with local lore and plenty of reading materials.

The space is host to ever-changing art exhibits and school field trips. Over the summer, there's Big Train Day followed by model train exhibits and in the fall, Indian Life. The museum's permanent exhibit includes artifacts ranging from the prehistoric to modern day. Of particular interest is a working Morse-code machine, a turn-of-the-century freight scale and a mural depicting the entire history of the Valley.
