Worker Rescued From Hole at Mustang Soccer Complex, Transported by Helicopter to Hospital

The worker was 15 feet deep at the Mustang soccer complex when a five gallon bucket of concrete fell on him.

 

A man working in a 15 foot deep hole was airlifted to the hospital after a five gallon bucket of concrete fell on him this morning at the Mustang Soccer complex, said Fire Chief Richard Price.

At 8:29 a.m. the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection district got a call about the accident. The man, who is not being named at this time, was working in the hole when the bucket fell on him from above said Chief Price.

The District dispatched five units and 18 personnel including its Urban Search and Rescue members. OSHA was notified and sent an investigator to the construction site.

The hole is 15 feet deep by 36 inches and is a drilled foundation hole for a large shade weather structure being built at the soccer complex.

Paramedics from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District were lowered into the hole where the man was given precautionary treatments for neck and back injuries.

He was harnessed and lifted out of the hole and airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek about one hour after the initial call was received. His condition is not being released at this time.

USAShade out of Dallas,Texas is the company working on the shade project Chief Price said.

Soccer games were being played on the field at the time of the accident.
