Winners Announced: Ride to School in a Fire Truck Coloring Contest

The six winners, selected from grades kindergarten to fifth grade, will get to ride to school in a firetruck.

Six lucky kids received a call from Fire Chief Richard Price last week, letting them know they won a ride to school in a firetruck.

The kids participated in a coloring contest by drawing a picture of the theme "Smoke Alarms, a sound you can live with"— the message for October's National Fire Prevention Month.

Kids who live within the boundaries of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District entered the contest. From about 100 entries, six winners were selected, one from each grade, kindergarten through sixth. The winners were chosen by a panel of six judges from the fire district, San Ramon Valley Unified School District and Patch.
