What Danville City Employees Earned in 2011

San Francisco has 572 workers making more than the governor. How does Danville compare?

There are 195 city employees in San Francisco who made more than $200,000 in 2012. As Matier and Ross point out in last week's San Francisco Chronicle, there are 572 workers in the city who made more than the governor. With a payroll of around $2.5 billion, San Francisco paid more than $3,000 per resident to its employees.

News of San Francisco's mammoth payroll seemed like a good excuse to test drive the State Controller's new public employee compensation database and see what city workers in Danville are pulling down these days.

The State Controller’s newly updated website shows that in 2011 Danville spent $168 per resident on its 261 municipal employees. Danville had one position topping $200,000 mark in 2011 (See second table at bottom of article).

In 2011, the city's highest paid position was the Town Manager, with total wages of $236,163, according to the figures on the State Controller's website.
