Two-Alarm House Fire Causes Estimated $300,000 in Damages

Firefighters contained a blaze at 17 Sky Terrace late Friday afternoon.

The fire department got a call at about 4:30 p.m. Friday that there was a fire at 17 Sky Terrace.

The fire was first reported by a neighbor who saw fire and smoke coming from the home, and heard a crackling sound like glass breaking. 

The three people inside the house at the time of the fire, an 8-year-old girl and her grandparents, had escaped from the house when fire crews arrived. They got out of the house after the child heard the smoke detector and her grandfather, Elmer Montgomery, saw black smoke in the kitchen area.

Crews responded with six engines, two trucks, one paramedic, three chief officers, two safety support staff and one grief support staff member.

The fire was contained at 5:45 p.m.

San Ramon Valley Fire Chief Richard Price said he estimated the damages to the home at about $300,ooo to the home and its contents and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
