Danville's 'Sully' -- A Registered Republican -- Donates $5K to Obama
Affluent Californians donate to presidential campaigns and the famed pilot and Danville resident was one of them.
Large donations from affluent Californians are heading toward presidential hopefuls and President Barack Obama.
The Mercury News wrote a report on some of these larger donations, including $2 million to Obama from DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The report also listed Univision CEO Jerry Perenchio donating $2 million to electing a Republican while PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel donated $900,000 to Ron Paul.
A local boy showed up in the report. Famed pilot -- and Danville resident -- Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after the plane hit a flock of geese, knocking the engine out, donated $5,000 to Obama's campaign.

Don't know many R's that are on board with Obamacare, borrowing 40 cents of every dollar the government spends, the feds telling religious organizations what they can and can not do, and all manner of new taxes, regulations, fees and meddling this administration promotes. That's usually left to the limosine liberal D's of Hollywood also mentioned in the original article.

I would donate as I have, not $5k, to Rick Santorum. But that's not the point. The article is trying to highlight an R that
crossed the aisle to support Obama. In doing so, you are either on board with his policies or oblivious to them...

It's nice people even have the money to donate. I'd like to see someone get in who of lets you write off more than the little percent for your medical if it is all out of pocket expense. Anyone that doesn't pay for their medical has no idea how bad it is.

That's what democracy is all about folks-- being free to vote without duress. In my view, one should not be beholden to any political party. Once you do that, they take you for granted. I'll vote for whichever candidate I feel has the best ideas and ability to govern, and the person could be in either political party.
