Update: Pot Growing Equipment Found in House Fire Next to Fountainhead Montessori School
A firefighter suffered minor injuries in the two-alarm house fire on El Pintado Road that is now also being investigated by the Danville police.
Danville police say a home on El Pintado Road next to Fountainhead Montessori that caught fire early Friday may have been the site of an indoor marijuana-growing operation.
Police say grow lights, air conditioning units, fans and filtration units commonly associated with growing marijuana inside were found in the wreckage of the fire that was reported at 5:20 a.m. Friday.
Kimberley French, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection district information officer, said the home was not occupied at the time of the fire. Damage to the home was listed at $750,000.
Arson investigators from the fire district are working to determine the cause and point of origin of the fire.
Detective Sgt. Allan Shields said Danville police are investigating the case but will turn it over to the Central Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Anyone with information about the fire should contact Det. Sgt. Allan Shields at 925-314-3703 or ashields@danville.ca.gov.

It's relevant because most of the grow houses that I've seen have many electrical problems which could easily start a fire.

It is not clear yet whether growing was still happening in the home at the time of the fire or if growing had ceased.
