Police Seek Witnesses In Fatal Accident

Danville's police chief is asking anyone who saw the Nov. 7 accident that killed two women on Sycamore Valley Road to contact investigators

Danville police are once again asking for any persons who witnessed a fatal accident that occurred on Sycamore Valley Road on Nov. 7 to contact their department.

Police Chief Steve Simpkins said family members of the two women killed in that accident have been approached by people who say they witnessed the crash.

Simpkins said their eyewitness accounts can help investigators determined what exactly happened at the intersection of Brookside Drive and Sycamore Valley Road that afternoon.

The chief said the investigation is ongoing, but no results are expected until mid-December. He said the investigation includes toxicology reports, measurements at the site and accident reconstruction techniques.

“I want to assure the residents of Danville that this accident is the Police Department’s highest priority. This investigation will be completed as soon as possible without compromising its thoroughness,” said Simpkins.

Elham Pirdavari, 51, and her mother, Mahindokht Dowlati, 72, both died when their car was struck by another automobile as Pirdavari drove northbound on Brookside Drive through the intersection.

The other vehicle was driven by a 32-year-old Walnut Creek man. He was driving westbound on Sycamore Valley Road. The man was injured and taken to Eden Valley Medical Center in Castro Valley. He is expected to recover.

Anyone with information, questions or concerns is encouraged to contact Chief Simpkins at (925) 314-3700 or ssimpkins@danville.ca.gov.
