Photo Gallery: The Grief of An Overtime Loss
It was a nail-biter that turned into a tough loss for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game against the New York Giants. And the faces of the fans at That Bar show exactly that.
The San Francisco 49ers' season ended tonight, in overtime, with a 31-yard field goal. But enough about that.
Danville Patch headed up to a busy That Bar, off Prospect, to see what was up. It was a packed house of red and gold jerseys. We found Montana, Young and Smith all represented in the crowd at That Bar, among many others. It was a crowd that came to have a pitcher of beer (or two) and watch some football.
The real action, however, started in the fourth quarter. It was a roller coaster of noise, hands clapping and fans both cheering and swearing at the bar's many televisions.
Unfortunately we can't show you a gallery full of smiling faces, though there are a few in there. It's mostly images of furrowed brows, nervousness and, eventually, grief.
In any event, the 49ers played a tough game had a great season and will be back next year, right?
