Former Monte Vista High Homecoming King Welcomed Home From Navy
Kevin Bradley, a 2007 graduate of Monte Vista High, served as rally chair, homecoming king and captain of the varsity swim team.
As part of the town's Operation Welcome Home program, Navy Corpsman Kevin Bradley was honored in a ceremony attended by about 150 people outside the town meeting hall Tuesday evening.
Bradley, a 21-year-old combat medic, was in Okinawa on a humanitarian mission for one year before spending four months on a combat mission in Afghanistan.
As a student at Monte Vista High, graduating in 2007, he served as rally chair, homecoming king and captain of the varsity swim team.
The cheering crowd surrounded by American flags included the mayor, town council members, county and state officials, a member of the BART board of directors, a Girl Scout troop from Greenbrook Elementary, the Lafayette Flag brigade, Blue Star Moms, the American Legion of Pleasanton, the Sentinels of Freedom, Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley, several riders groups including the Legion Riders, Patriot Riders and Vietnam Veteran Riders. Dozens of Bradley's friends, family and other Tri-Valley residents were also in attendance.
He said the event was "a lot to take in," and that it was "fantastic" and a "relief" to be home.
Now that he's home, he is heading to Jackson Hole Wyoming with his dad, Tom, to take in a week of fishing, golfing and hiking.
