Fire results in 'Total Loss' at Last Detail
No one hurt, but business suffers significant structural damage from blaze.
A Monday night fire has resulted in a "total loss" at one of three stores named Last Detail on Prospect Avenue in downtown Danville.
Store owner Judy Simmons was visably shaken late Tuesday standing in front of the damaged structure, one of three stores in a row she has owned and operated for seven years.
"It's devastating," Simmons said. "And just three weeks before Christmas."
San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District investigator Julie Bartusch told Simmons it was a total loss. Despite the bad news, Simmons said she would have women's accessories available in her other two stores before Christmas.
"We have a lot of loyal customers," she said. "I want them to know that."
With the help of nearby patrons, firefighters put out the fire Monday night. Simmons left her store 90 minutes earlier.
Firefighters responded within five minutes to the 8:34 p.m. call They found patrons from the nearby That Bar had doused the flames and within 10 minutes the fire was contained.
