Finding a Home with Curb Appeal

Curb Appeal comes in many forms. Here are five charming homes for sale that have it.

We all appreciate a house with curb appeal.

My kids, maybe more aware than the children of a podiatrist or banker, often point out a “cute” house as we are driving around.

What makes it cute?

So many different things—we all appreciate various styles. Farmhouse wrap-around porches, a Victorian turret, a Tuscan Villa style ... all nice, all different.

512 Tara Jean Lane is offered by Tom Kortizija of Sotheby’s International Realty. With the theme of “curb appeal,” I thought of this house right away—and yet it’s a bit of a misnomer—this house is not visible from the curb. It’s located down a long drive and behind a gate—but once there, the Cape Cod style with welcoming front porch is charming. Tom will have an open house Sunday, and I encourage you to visit. It’s the sort of house you’ll fall in love with when you step inside. The backyard is huge, flat, and pretty—and the finishes inside are lovely. See the virtual tour. This is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home with nearly 2,500 square feet on a half acre, priced at $1,149,000. Open Sunday 1-4 or call Tom at 925-480-7080.

Danville

1900 Casablanca St. is offered by Lorri Cutler of Keller Williams Realty. Curb appeal and picket fences go together like peanut butter and jelly. This house has a great corner location, shingle exterior, a beautifully landscaped front yard complete with white picket fence. “Cute” is not the right adjective to describe this elegant 5,000+ square foot home with 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. It’s a lot of house for the price: offered at $1,098,000. See the virtual tour. Lorri is holding an open house on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4, or call her for a showing at 925-783-7371.

San Ramon

51 Elmwood Dr. is offered by Dennis Reed of Better Homes Realty. A steep roofline always adds an element of charm (unless you’re a roofer—then it just adds an element of danger). This home, with its cozy front porch and steep roofline evokes  years gone past—yet it’s a fairly new home (built in 1996). It is across the street from a park and has a private yard. Offered at $579,000, this home has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms with nearly 1,800 square feet. Please call Dennis for a showing at 925 998-8181.

Dublin

6107 Ledgewood Terrace is offered by Cindy Engel of J. Rockcliff, and is priced at $947,450. This is a large home in Dublin Ranch: 3,844 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The style of the home is lovely—stucco and brick with arched windows and shutters. The backyard is private with wonderful views of Mt. Diablo and the hills, and has stunning hard-scape features including a bridge walkway. This premium lot location has access to open space—and you can walk with your clubs to the golf course or pack your swim bag and head to the swim club. See the virtual tour. Open this weekend both days: Saturday and Sunday from 1-4, or don't wait—call Cindy for a showing at 925-580-5107.

Pleasanton

4432 First Ave. is offered by Mike Carey of Investment Real Estate Company. Someday I will live in a Victorian—it’s my favorite style home. For me, this is the ultimate in curb appeal. This home, located near downtown in a “walk to everything” location is a meticulously maintained Victorian with vintage charm. The main house is 3 bedrooms, and there is an apartment over the garage with a kitchen and bath, permitted as rental. Please check out the website, for details and photos. Priced at $1,099,000, the house will be open March 20 from 1-4, or don’t wait—call Mike for a showing at 925-963-0569.

Livermore

4478 Beck Lane is offered by Tom Chance of J. Rockcliff Realty. A pretty home with an inviting front porch, this home is located in East Livermore near the vineyards.  It feels like country—yet it’s close to town. Newer contruction (2002) and a single story—this is an uncommon combination—it’s nearly 2,800 square feet and 4 bedrooms, 3 baths. It is situated on a cul-de-sac with outstanding views of the neighboring park and hills. Tastefully decorated with lots of upgrades such as granite counter-tops and hickory flooring. Priced at $759,500. Visit Tom at the open house on Sunday (1:00 – 3:30) or call him for a showing at 925 487-6360.
