Levitt said the best thing for concerned community members to do is to "continue to get the word out to the broader community," rather than helping with a physical search.

5 p.m. Bayliss family friend Kevin Sawcheck spoke to the media earlier Tuesday afternoon.

He said a search of Alliy's computer found directions to the Dublin BART station, as well as directions from the Embarcadero to the Golden Gate Bridge using Google Maps bicycle directions. This path led the search team to her bicycle, found locked at a bike rack in a parking lot at Fort Point near the Golden Gate Bridge.

He said no other evidence of Alliy was found near the bike and that it is "highly possible she could have walked back to the city on foot."

Volunteers expanded the San Francisco search to art galleries and museums.

"Everyone is just focused on finding Alliy," said  Sawcheck. "We are obviously very worried. Alliy, please come back. We all love you and want you to come back home."

Plans are for the search to continue until dark, and then resume at sunrise, going on as long as necessary, he said.

4 p.m. via Facebook: "The family would like to thank everyone for the support of volunteers. But we currently have all of the volunteers that we can handle. Be on your computer and be prepared for a continued search possibly tonight or tomorrow."

1:30 p.m. A search team of about 60 law enforcement officials are combing beaches, trails, water and bluff areas in the Marin Headlands, Ocean Beach and Land's End in San Francisco, using horses, helicopters and boats.

Many friends, family members and volunteers from Danville have joined the searchers. Involved agencies include the Danville police, U.S. Park Police, San Francisco Police, National Park Service rangers and Golden Gate Bridge district patrol officers, said Howard Levitt, National Park Service, director of communications.

"We are hopeful we will find her safe and sound. There is no timeframe on how long the search will go on," he said.

Crews began their search at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday. Bayliss was reported missing  Monday by her parents.

David Bayliss, the father of missing sophomore Allison Bayliss, is in San Francisco on Tuesday morning looking for his 15-year-old daughter, who was last seen about 8 a.m. Monday at school with her bike.

He told KTVU that he's waiting for helicopter and water search crews to arrive.

"We're just hoping and praying that Allison's alive," Bayliss said.

About 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Bayliss' family informed authorities that they had found Allison's bike chained to a bike rack in a parking lot at Fort Point near the Golden Gate Bridge.

The area is now being searched by U.S. Park Police, park service rangers, San Francisco police and others, Levitt said.

A description of the situation on a Facebook page created for Allison Bayliss states that a suicide note, along with directions to San Francisco locations, was found.

Her parents reported her missing Monday, and Danville police, along with the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, began a search late Monday.

They were joined by dozens of volunteers who gathered before sundown at for a briefing by police before they began looking for Allison.

She was last seen wearing a red zip hoodie jacket, jeans and mismatching flip-flops, one green and one yellow. Allison is 5-foot-8, has blue eyes and blonde hair and weighs 130 pounds (see photo). She had a black and purple Diamondback mountain bike with her.
