A New Upscale Consignment Boutique Caters to the Savvy Recessionista
The Savvy Shopaholic specializes in upscale contemporary consignment fashion and accessories, and will celebrate its grand opening this weekend.
Years ago, before I was a resident of Danville, the great vintage and consignment shops in town made it a destination for me. I enjoyed the fun of discovering unique pieces and the hunt for a good deal.
Over the years, the scene has ebbed and flowed.
With the current trend towards more frugality, and a desire to recycle clothing and accessories, there has been a resurgence of fresh venues to explore in town.
The Savvy Shopaholic, which opened six weeks ago, is the newest "recessionista" haunt. The store's grand opening celebration is this weekend.
For an experienced consignment and vintage shopper, the first thing that strikes me is the look of the shop. This is not a place where you will rummage in over-crowded, indiscriminately placed racks.
The owner, Debbie Rosenberg, has a background in merchandising design, and applied that experience to create an upscale space, where the inventory is sleekly displayed, and grouped by color.
Rosenberg says she setup the shop as she would set up her own closet.
Rosenberg is also very intentional about the designers and items she accepts for consignment. She says jeans and handbags are always hot items.
The grand opening celebration will take place Saturday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be a raffle featuring items from local merchants, including Tootsies, The Dailey Method, Danville Chocolates, Sideboard Café, and more.
The Savvy Shopaholic is located at 411 Hartz Ave. #G in downtown Danville.

My favorite find remains a satin green and black brocade jacket, cut in the asian style. I bought it from a little shop on Railroad Ave., long gone. When I want to go have a night out in S.F., it is still my go-to "going out" piece. Tell me about yours?

This shop specializes in women's fashions. The Hospice Thrift Shop on Diablo Blvd. features options for the guys locally, otherwise the last time I checked, good options for men can be found in Berkeley. Has anybody else found good options for men's consignment? Chime in!
